Alexander O'Neal - If You Were Here Tonight - 1985

Fall of 1985 I first heard this song in my college cafeteria on the TV during BET'S Video Soul and fell in love with the arrangement beautifully written by Monte Moir of "The Time and gorgeously produced and arranged by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis this song set up fantasies of feeling that type of longing for love. Over 2 and half years later I was sitting in the pier with my first serious girlfriend and this song came over the loudspeaker during our first date and like a movie this song came on, we starting kissing the late summer/early fall moonlight sky and also "Under the Milky Way" by the Church played right after Alexander's song. We lost track of time that night kissing, talking and enjoying each others company and we didn't get home until 4 o'clock in the morning. A great night and a great song.
